Dolphin Park opening soon......
There is an excellent community park that is only open seasonally that I want to tell everyone about (many of you probably already know about it).

The official name is "The George Washington Bridge Park," but in the neighborhood most people call it the "Dolphin Park" because it has a dolphin sprinkler in it.

Here's the deal--it's intended for children ages 5 and under and usually attracts mostly young toddlers. It's always staffed(!!!!) with a picnic table and toys, a sand box that gets covered at night, a little sprinkler for warm days, and a small structure for climbing on with a slide. It's gated and locked at night, but open to the public! It's part of the NYC Parks System.

Starting the first weekend of May it will be open Fri, Sat, Sun for a while until the full season when it's open 7 days a week.

The hours are 3:30 to 6:30 only.

It's located at 180th Street and Cabrini.

I love this park! Enjoy!

Washington Heights CSA

Dear Washington Heights neighbors,

Washington Heights CSA will soon begin its third season and we welcome
you to join us in receiving locally grown certified organic produce
from Little Seed Gardens, a small-scale family farm in Chatham, NY.
Details below and at www.littleseed.org.

Questions?
Please contact directly.
If you are interested in Inwood CSA (same farmers, different location)
please visit http://www.inwoodcsa.org/ or email < info@inwoodcsa.org>.

Distribution
The 2005 season distribution dates are June 7 through November 1, 2005.
The pick-up location will be outside the New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon on
Tuesday afternoons,
4:30-7:15pm.

Share Cost
The price this year remains at $375/share for 22 weeks.

We advise that you consider joining quickly, as last year our
membership quickly reached its capacity of 100 shares. Priority will
be given to past members. The contract is available online at
http://www.littleseed.org.

Split Shares
Members are welcome to split shares with neighbors or friends. In
order to make this arrangement work smoothly, please adhere to the
following protocol:
• Members are responsible for finding their own partners.
• One payment in full is required at the time of share purchase.
• Complete contact information (address, ph # and e-mail) for each
split share member is requested on the contract.
• Full produce share should be collected at the distribution site at
one time; please do not leave half shares behind for partners to pick
up later.

Additional Items
We will continue to offer other items this year to members, including
meat, eggs, and honey. Unfortunately, we must discontinue offering the
bread/cheese/jam/cider share after much debate and discussion. We are
currently investigating other sources for bread. Eggs will be
available once a month through the folks who deliver grass-fed meats.
This year fruit may be offered as separate items from different
orchards including apples and blueberries. We will contact all 2005
members regarding how to sign up for these items closer to the season.

Farm Visit
Save the date! Little Seed Garden farmers, Willie Denner and Claudia
Kenney, have invited members to visit the farm on Sunday, September
18, 2005 from 1-4 p.m Activities will be planned for members of all
ages.

We look forward to beginning the season and seeing you all soon.

Sincerely Yours,
Washington Heights Core Members
