Revolutionary Manhattan Tour - The Battles in Washington Heights

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Learn about the neighborhood where Washington warred and Burr wooed. Hear about John James Audubon, Malcolm X, Clement C. Moore, Mrs. Astor, Billy Sunday, Freddy Prinze, Maria Callas, Gen. Knyphausen and the Hessians, Frankie Lyman and the Teenagers. And more.

Includes FREE admission to the Morris-Jumel Mansion.

Tour conducted by Historian Frederick Cookinham.

Frederick Cookinham earned his Bachelor's degree in American History at Cortland State College in 1976, and his Master's at Brooklyn College in 1987. He is the author of the (hopefully) forthcoming book, THE AGE OF RAND.

All tours are $15, $10 for children and seniors. No reservations needed, but call to confirm: tours subject to cancellation without notice.

Private tours are also available for $20 per person: just give Fred a call.

Revolutionary Manhattan Tour - The Surrender of Fort Washington
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Learn about Manhattan's own major Revolutionary War battle, but very little known. Stand on the ramparts of the "Alamo of the Revolution." Eighteenth Century honor. Fort Washington Park, the George Washington Bridge and the Little Red Lighthouse. How not to build a fort. Howe to take one.

Tour conducted by Historian Frederick Cookinham.

The YM/YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood is looking for volunteers to package and deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors in Washington Heights and Inwood. Volunteers to provide friendly visiting to the homebound are being sought as well as volunteers to provide clerical help at our senior center. Call Sharon

Annual George Washington Bridge Challenge
Non-competitive fund-raising event to fight cancer
after crossing the bridge, participants take one of several Challenges....walk/run routes, 5K and 10K, Bike routes, 4mile, 10mile, 25mile, 33mile, 63mile.
There will be a picnic afterwards.

Gallery Workshop for Families at The Cloisters - The Dragon and the Unicorn

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Children ages four through twelve and their families are invited for an hour-long family workshop, "The Dragon and the Unicorn."

FREE with Museum admission. Suggested museum admission is $12 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens. Free admission for members and children under twelve with an adult.
