Do you like to knit or crochet? or would you like to learn?
There is a casual group of knitters and crocheters who meet in the neighborhood on weeknights and weekends for a couple of hours of knitting and socializing.

George Washington Bridge bicycle/walking path restrictions
Port Authority to Restrict George Washington Bridge Bicycling/Walking Path Hours

Citing security concerns and lack of resources, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced last week that, starting on Sunday, August 29, it will close the George Washington Bridge bicycling and walking path overnight:

September 3-Until Further Notice: Closed Midnight-6 am

To mitigate the effect of the closure, the Port Authority has asked bus companies operating out of the bridge bus terminal on the Manhattan side of the bridge to accommodate bicycles when the path is closed.

For questions or comments on this issue, you can reach the Port Authority at 800-221-9903 or www.panynj.gov/rfframe.HTM.

8/7/04--continuing every Saturday
Inwood Greenmarket

Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
This new greenmarket in Inwood has a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, free-range organic meats, flowers and plants, baked goods, apples and cider, and much more! It's also a great place for the community to gather.

It will be important to show support the first few weeks to encourage the farmers to keep coming and also bring a good variety of products, so please help spread the word!
Location: Isham Street, between Seaman Avenue and Cooper Street.
