There is an excellent community park that is only open seasonally that I want to tell everyone about (many of you probably already know about it).
The official name is "The George Washington Bridge Park," but in the neighborhood most people call it the "Dolphin Park" because it has a dolphin sprinkler in it.
Here's the deal--it's intended for children ages 5 and under and usually attracts mostly young toddlers. It's always staffed(!!!!) with a picnic table and toys, a sand box that gets covered at night, a little sprinkler for warm days, and a small structure for climbing on with a slide. It's gated and locked at night, but open to the public! It's part of the NYC Parks System.
Starting the first weekend of May it will be open Fri, Sat, Sun for a while until the full season when it's open 7 days a week.
The hours are 3:30 to 6:30 only.
It's located at 180th Street and Cabrini.
I love this park! Enjoy!
